Merry Christmas
Hello all. What a wonderful Christmas morning it is. The kids are quite playing with their new toys and I am enjoying the peace. I have many projects in the works and I'm waiting for my cover for Twisted. I can't wait to see it. I had a dark time writing this book. It is really fun. I have some time off of school so I'll be writing more in the next few days, which is a relief. So what are your plans today? Did you get snow? All the snow here is gone but its still cold out. Alright I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I am thankful to those who read my this. Thank you for your support and I hope to be bringing you more stories in 2014.

Hello
all, yes, I know it’s been a long but I am here to announce the release of my
first young adult book called Book of the Ancients: Lost Guardian. I hope you
love this book as much as I loved writing it. My new pen name for the series
and other young adult books will be Kipley Deshannon. I know I told you
something different but I changed it. Here is my new author page where you can
find out about me and my work. https://museituppublishing.com/bookstore/index.php/our-authors/69-our-authors/authors-s/270-raven-starr-kipley-deshannon
And here is the buy link for Book of the Ancients.

(If this link doesn’t work click read more on the first link and it will bring
you to the buy page.)
On other
news there is an awesome ad in Dark Discoveries that has Vampire Embrace’s
cover in it. It’s about women in horror. Speaking of horror I am writing a new
creepy story, the title I have right now is called “Bug”. I won’t say anymore
because this book is still in the beginning stages. I’m also writing a romance
book called Tapestry. I’m having a good time editing and writing this story.
This story is all about the power of our minds and everlasting love. It is not
finished yet so I haven’t settled on a publishing house.
I don’t
know if I told you but I’m going back to school to get my bachelor degree in
English. I am hoping to hon my craft this way. It is why I haven’t put out many
books, but don’t fret I’m still writing. Thank you for your support. I love you
all for hanging in there and enjoying what I put out. As for getting an agent I
will always be on the look out. I think getting an agent is the next time in my
writing career. I have about another year of school then I’m done and will be
back to writing full-time. Yay!
If you
want to follow me I’m on Twitter and especially Facebook, it is my dirty little
plaything right now. J So look me up and let’s chat. I’m under my pen
name which we all know is Raven Starr. Let me know you are a fan/reader and I
will accept you. I’d love to hear from you all. So I’ll see ya around and send
more updates as they appear. Don’t forget to check out my blog for other
stories, games and all around fun. Hugs to you all. Here is the cover to Book of the Ancients: Lost Guardian. Enjoy

I sold it!
I sold my very first book of my young adult series Book of the Ancients the first book is called The Lost Guardian. I'm so happy. It was a great birthday present. I will be writing under the pen name KD Todd. You have to check it out! It's Springtime and I'm loving the change of seasons. I have taken a slight break from writing because of the school papers I have to write each week. I hope to get back into the swing of things when the school work ebbs a little bit. I'm still loving Facebook but I haven't been there too often. I will have to find some folks that want to be interviewed on the blogtalk show. I haven't had too much time to do that either, but I've been slacking. I have get my act together. I'm looking for some good music to write too anyone have any good bands I could try out? Or something like Dub step would be great. When I have more information I will be right. I know it can be a long time but I'm going to change that. I'm so happy with the way things are going. I'm happy, healthy and full of ideas. I have a few signed books of Thieves in the Night. I'm thinking of a way of having a giveaway. If you have any good ideas let me and we might try it out.
Well, its back to reading, but don't stay away too long and either will I.
Much love,
Raven

The True Story Behind To Start Again.
If you haven't picked up a copy of this novel from BTP then shame on you...lol
Here's a blog from J and J on just how it happened.
Here's a blog from J and J on just how it happened.
We have a confession: neither Jeanie nor I had ever read a novel, seen a play, or recited a poem by author Raven Starr until she submitted a manuscript to Beautiful Trouble Publishing. That, however, didn’t stop us from being familiar with the author. Despite the masses of authors out there, publishing circles are small and the six degrees of separation are more like three degrees of separation…if that.
Even though neither of us knew her, we knew of her because she had an online presence. That is, she had a blog, was on both Facebook and MySpace, and had a yahoo group. You might wonder what that has to do with her submission and we’d answer “everything.”
When reading over submissions, we look for a well-written and compelling story. That, however, is not all we look for when we receive a submission. As a publisher specializing in e-Books, we also look for how the author looks online. Before we read the first word of the submission, we perform an internet search for the author. We expect veteran authors to have a presence, and Raven definitely had one.
Able to check off that first box on our ‘must have’ checklist, we read her submission. We didn’t accept Raven’s first submission—not because it wasn’t a good read, but because it was a genre more appropriate for a different publisher. Asking her permission, we hooked her up with another publisher and encouraged her to submit something else to Beautiful Trouble Publishing.
She did. Word on the street is ‘because we’re so awesome’. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. Skimming her submission, as usual we mentally noted typos, repetition, and other grammar things. Somewhere along the way however, we got sucked into the story. We wanted the heroine to make it out to the other side, especially as the hero was damn likeable. Before we even reached the end, we’d decided to accept the story.
Knowing Raven has children, was also a student herself and managed to squeeze in a social life, we emailed her and asked her to call us. A few minutes later she called the business line. That initial conversation was memorable.
“Hello, Beautiful Trouble Publishing,” Jayha said (Jayha likes to add that she sounded all sophisticated and whatnot…The Jeanie likes to point out that is a damn lie).
“Hi, this is Raven. You asked me to call.”
Being the epitome of professionalism, grace and etiquette, I responded. “You B*tch!” I screamed/sniffled because I was still crying from the story. “You are wrong for making me look so un-gangsta like. We want the story. By the way, DIBS on Aidan.”
Instead of being offended, Raven responded with tinkling laughter before getting all serious. “So you liked it?”
“We did.”
Raven was concerned that the story wasn’t “enough” for our publishing company. We were concerned that we might be too much, not just for Raven but for many authors. The Jeanie and I…we’re picky, we’re demanding, and according to rumor “UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME.”
Was To Start Again our usual type of romance? No, but we pride ourselves on not having a “usual” type—other than kickazz. During the read we got angry, we cried, and in the end we sighed when Madison and Aidan both received their HEA.
The story went through what many of our authors refer to as “editing boot camp.” Through it all, Raven was the epitome of a professional. She didn’t whine and moan about our picky ways (well, at least not out loud). Instead, she buckled down and put her nose to the grindstone. We happen to think To Start Again is her best piece of writing…and that’s not simply because we published it.
The book is dedicated to her mother. We think her mom would be proud. We certainly are. Thank you Raven for being part of Beautiful Trouble Publishing. —Jeanie and Jayha

Plots, Characters and storylines oh my...
I've interviewed a lot of authors on my blogtalk about how a story comes about. Most can hear the voices of the characters crying out for their stories to be told. I know I keep a pen and paper by my bed at all times for those moments. Do you write what you know or branch out, research and write something new? I love doing both. While writing my young adult series I have started to outline. I have never really been an outliner. I just write, then read, edit and write some more. Some plots have sub-plots that need to run underneath the surface to keep secondary characters going. How do you keep your name fresh while closing yourself off to write? Promotion is one part of the game I am not the best at. I must say I love writing. I love creating worlds and falling in love with the characters.
Writing the young adult has taught me to research more and use more outlines so I can keep all the information together. I have to say it's different then writing adult fiction. I love both genres, but with adult stories I find there is a limit. Do you use an outline? Writing in so many different genres I muster up all the different plots and stories. I have notebooks full. So, what's been new with me lately? I was a writing, querying machine but an unexpected hospital stay has slowed me down. I'm still going to school for my BA in English and I have to say its a lot of fun. It's hard work, but fun. I haven't gotten to the math portion either...lol.
I've been thinking a lot about new ways to promote myself and besides interviews with other authors what else can I do? I'm going to join the RWA asap. I feel like if I were apart of this organization maybe I can further my writing career. I'm always up for ideas so if you have some let me know. I signed a new contract with Damnation Books for a new story called Half Ghost.

This is a tale about love and demons. I really enjoyed writing this one. It's slated for a September release. I love the cover on this book. Oh I have good news about Tainted Blood. The cover is going to be redone and it will be re released very soon. I'm very happy about that. Don't forget about the blogtalk show one world one voice. I'm off to explore the world. Kisses to all <3

Wet Your Whistle on This! To Start Again by Raven Starr
Madison began opening up several paints and applying them to her palette.
“So are you sure you like it?” Aidan asked again.
“I’m very sure. Get comfy I want to capture your essence.”
“Shirt on or off?” Aidan smiled as he walked past her.
“Unbuttoned halfway…showing a little skin, but leaving something hidden. Yum.” She licked her lips as she slowly slipped the buttons from their loops.
“I got your yum right here.” Aidan whispered back.
“Yes, you do,” she winked. “That’s the essence I want to capture. Now relax and let me work my magic.
“That’s perfect. Just relax.” Having spent many days looking at Aidan and many nights dreaming about him, Madison didn’t have to look at Aidan that much during the entire painting process. Madison looked because she wanted to. Looking at his tanned skin sent shivers through her. Remembering the kisses they’d just shared, she couldn’t help but long for him. A tingling started at the tip of her nub and spread warmth throughout her entire body.
Just as she knew his body she knew his soul and wanted it to shown through on the canvas…just as it shown through on him. With everything happening around her, Aidan was the only stable thing she had to count on. And it felt good to do so.
She’d been painting for a while when Aidan’s sweet baritone voice pulled her from her task. “Madison.”
“Everything alright?” she asked.
Aidan twitched his nose. “I have an itch. I can either move or you could do the honors.”
Madison set down her brush and walked over to him. “Where?”
“There is a spot right under my bottom lip. I don’t want to move, would you please?”
She scratched the side of his lip. “Here?” She asked.
“Lower,” he groaned.
She let her fingers ran down the middle of his chest.
“Oh yeah, that’s the spot.”
“I think I got a little paint on you.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Aidan said as he pulled her down onto his lap and kissed her lips. “You are what matters to me.”
Madison pulled him closer and kissed his mouth. “Aidan,” she whispered. Aidan scooped her up as if she weighed nothing and made his way to his bedroom. Gently, he laid her on the bed before standing back and looking at her. Aidan didn’t just look at her; he stared in the depth of her of soul. And then he smiled. When he opened his mouth to speak Madison sat up and placed her slender index finger against his lips.
“The only thing I want to hear you say is my name as you’re making love to me,” she said as she pulled him down for a kiss. They fell back on the bed together, their lips busy exploring each other, their bodies locked in a passionate embrace.
They undressed each other between their passionate kisses. Aidan only paused long enough for them to catch a single breath before he moved his lips to her neck. Wow. She moaned lightly when Aidan slid his fingers between her breasts.
“Your skin is as soft as I imagined. Now that I’m touching it I’m pretty sure I won’t ever get tired of doing so,” he said. Cupping a breast in his hand, he bent to lick her nipple. “Beautiful,” he whispered before moving to the other.
Reveling in the attention Aidan paid her body, Madison did her own exploring. She ran her hands over him enjoying the feel of the muscles in his back and the fullness of his ass.
“Nice body,” she said as she gave his ass a squeeze.
Aidan looked up with a sly smile. “Wait until you see what it can do.” He pulled away and kissed his way up her thighs. Opening her legs with his forearms, he bent and licked her clit.
I know with every book I write I say I love it, but this one is from my heart. I wrote it when I was grieving over the death of my parents(grab a tissue) so it has some very emotional undertones as well as some romance in it.

Tell me what ya think?
Hello all, I was sitting in my bed sick as hell when this story came to mind. I'm only posting an excerpt of this new short but let me know what ya think.
Check it out.
The Record Shop by Raven Starr
Check it out.
The Record Shop by Raven Starr
Clive didn’t have to think, he knew what his wife would have done. She would have made him homemade soup. She would’ve catered to his every whim. She was selfless. He dropped his head in shame.
“Oh stop with the feelings of guilt now. You’ve both given your wives the best present ever.”
Roger and Clive exchange a worried glance.
“What is that?” Roger sniffed.
“Freedom.”
Clive snickered. “Freedom from what?”
Mr. Diabolus lowered his gaze. “Freedom from you from always coming in second to your crazy obsessions. Each time you chose the records over your mate brought you closer to me, closer to your true fate, to your new home.”
“This is madness! You can’t keep us here!”
“Are you sure about that? Who’s looking for you? Your wives? Did you even tell them exactly where you were going? Did you?”
Clive fell back on to the dusty floor in defeat.
Mr. Diabolus laughed. “Don’t look so glum, chum. You’ll get used to it. This is what you cared about most. The Holy Grail for your massive collection.”
“Let me out. Let me go back to my wife and I’ll make her breakfast in bed. I’ll spend more time as a family doing things together. Give me one more chance, please! I’m beggin you.”
“Oh don’t beg dear boy, that won’t help you. How many times did you say the very same thing to her? How many times did you promise to show her you’ve changed?”
“This is my third shot. I wanted to show her how much I love her. I have changed. I can be the man she sees in my eyes.” Clive paused.
“And—” Mr. Diabolus probed.
“I couldn’t fight the call to be here. I told her I’d stay if she wanted me too. I don’t live in New York and I figured since she’s a homebody I could see the sites. It was just gonna be for a few hours I thought. . .”
“Yes, I know exactly what you thought. Let me show you your wife.” The crafty owner pulled out a record and spun it like a basketball on the tip of his ginger. Like a black and white tv full of static the blurry image appeared in the grooves. Clive saw his wife lying in bed. Her body hot with fever. Each time she coughed the bed shook. Her eyes were swollen and her hair was a mess. Their children jumped up and down on the bed while the oldest ducked out to hang with friends. Clive’s heart sank. Here was the woman he claimed to love surely she could’ve used his help, but he was no where to be seen. How wasn’t he there helping her?
“I’m so sorry, my love. I’m so very sorry.”
“Oh stop it. She’s not here you don’t have to act so pussy whipped.”
“I love her, damn you!” Clive shouted.
“Obviously not enough. How much is too much? How long could she stand playing second fiddle to your precious ebony disks? It’s not everyday you get to get see her, stroke her soft tawny skin or feel her breathe on the back of your neck. Three strikes and your out, my friend.”
“Nooo,” Clive dove at Mr. Diabolus but found himself crashing into another row of records. “What the fuck!” Clive stared at his hands.
“The only things you can truly touch are these. . .” Mr. Diabolus tossed him an album. Clive fingered the smooth black surface. He cradled the record like a newborn child.
“So what happens to us now?” Roger asked.
“You stay here and hunt forever and ever and ever.”

I have finally had a release. Torn by Raven Starr is out from Red Rose Publishing.
www.redrosepublishing.com
Check out the blurb and an excerpt:
Everybody falls in love and everyone gets hurt. Alyssa Kendall is no different. But what would you do if the love of your life was being held captive by a psychopath?
How far would you go?
Alyssa finds out just how far she’ll go for love, revenge and peace of mind. She’s not Torn between two men, but between the two halves of herself.
Which half will win? Find out in Torn.
Excerpt:
Alyssa walked to a dusty box and picked up a rusty bolt cutter. “I found this back there.” She jerked her head toward the direction of the back. “I wanna you start cutting his fingers off. He’ll talk after two of his digits are on the floor.”
Disaster took the bolt cutter away from her. “And if he doesn’t talk then what?”
Alyssa turned to stare at Morris, his eyes locked on the deadly weapon. “Well, if he doesn’t talk I’m sure I think of other objects on his body that could be cut off.”
Alyssa walked past Disaster and sat up on one of the boxes to get a front row seat to the finger fest waiting to begin.
“You heard her, boys, cut his damn fingers off.”
Morris fidgeted the best he could being tied to a chair. G-Dog got the celebratory honor of being the cut-master. She watched as he steadied himself, positioned the teeth of the bolt cutter just above the first knuckle of his index finger.
“You’ll never be able to kill another kid in this neighborhood after this.” He joked.
He clamped down a blood curding scream rang through the warehouse. Alyssa never blinked, she watched patiently as Morris’ fingers dropped to the floor. It didn’t take long before Morris was more than willing to give up Trevor’s cell phone number, secret location and his social security number as long as they stopped cutting his fingers off. Morris’ shirt was soaked with sweat and blood.
She turned to stare at Disaster. “Here take this.” She pulled out a bankroll of cash. Half now as promised, you’ll get the rest when the job is done.”
Disaster pocketed the money and winked. “Go do your thing.”
“Back off of him for a minute,” Alyssa called from her perch.
“Damn, man I was just having fun.” G-Dog kicked Morris, stepping back.
She licked her lips, hopped off the box and went to Morris’ side. Again, she took out her cell phone then held it out to him.
“Oh, yeah you don’t have the fingers to dial the number, allow me.” Morris shivered. She assumed it was from the loss of blood.
“Any day now, Morris. I have all night, but somehow I don’t think you’re gonna make it.”
Let's spread the word!!!

Something about Me and Coming Soon News
Hello all, I know it's been a long time. Life happens though, right? I've been wanting to swing by and chat about dyslexia and the author. Most folks don't know that I am like many folks who struggle with Dyslexia. I remember in school I hated reading out loud. I would try to count the heads in front of me and read the paragraphs so if the teacher got to me I wouldn't stumble.
I didn't want to tell anyone, plus being high school at the time, who would care. They would all laugh at me regardless. It wasn't until I graduated, and really started writing more poetry and short stories. It was through the written word I gained self esteem and courage.
I wanted to do this as a Vlog but I'm not a techno chick so you'll have to forgive me. I wanted to tell everyone starting April 15th, the Red Rose Publishing authors will be doing a virtual blog. I'll post the details as they come, but this is what I know so far.
It'll start the 15th and readers will start at one blog and follow the story through all of the blogs. The readers also must leave a comment to be entered into a contest. I will post the prizes and such as the day gets closer.
I'll be doing chapter 20 so I'm pretty excited to see what we'll be working on.
And just in touch any of you are interested in Avon, I sell that too. hahaha
Plus don't forget about my blogtalk radio station One World One Voice. We spoke with Andras Jones and the RRP authors took over last week. Coming up Lisa Wilcox and some awesome RT authors. www.blogtalkradio.com/oneworldonevoice
Don't forget to check out The Perfect Match and Tainted Blood from Red Rose Publishing
Soon I'll be working on edits for Torn. If your a member of my yahoo group then you'll be able to read my story Seperate but Together. Read it and let me know what ya think.
Big Hugs,
Raven

Here's my Trick or Treat Question
Read the excerpt of The Perfect Match below and email me the answer to these questions.
“Fuck!” He flipped over the long, wooden-planked coffee table.
“Donovan!” Demitri grabbed his shoulders. “Calm down. Don’t lose control.”
Donovan shrugged away from Demitri’s embrace and stormed outside to cool off.
“You alright, man?” Demitri asked, holding out his hand to help Kevin stand.
Kevin shoved Demitri’s hand away, stood up and followed Donovan outside.
“Oh damn,” Demitri shook his head and chased after Kevin.
“Yo!” Kevin called. He stalked towards Donovan.
“Don’t fuck with me right now, Kevin, alright?” Donovan’s icy tone sent shivers through Demitri.
“Guys, let’s not do this.” Demitri positioned himself in between the two males.
“Naw,” Donovan tossed away his lit cigarette, cracked his neck and stood his ground. “If he wants to roll, we can do that. I have no problems breaking him down now, anyway.”
“Think you’re a bad ass now, Dono? Got to taste some chocolate ass and now you think you’re Don Quan?”
Donovan pointed at Kevin. “Don’t you dare disrespect her again, Kevin, you don’t even know her. I’m trying real hard to keep myself from knocking you off the damned pedestal you think you’re on. Last warning, call her a name again, we ain’t brothers, we ain’t boys and we ain’t friends. I will knock you on your ass and there’s nothing my brother can do to stop me.” He glared at Kevin.
“That’s how it is, bro?” Kevin sidestepped Demitri. “We’ve been through a lot and you’re gonna let some whore…”
As soon as the words left Kevin’s mouth, Donovan’s punch knocked Kevin in the slushy pool.
“I told you, Kevin!” Donovan yelled.
“Donovan!” Demitri fished a dripping and shivering Kevin from the pool.
“You alright?” Demitri asked, but it was no use. Kevin dashed after Donovan. Kevin dove for Donovan’s legs, knocking him to the ground. Kevin used his brute strength to pin Donovan’s chest to the ground while delivering a few quick jabs to his ribs.
With a quick burst of energy Donavan slugged Kevin on his left temple with his elbow point.
As Kevin swayed, Donovan threw Kevin off, then stood. Donavan’s dark blue jeans were caked with mud and wet from the melting ice and snow. His white turtle neck was ruined with rips and ground-in stains. He spat crimson drops on the ground. Donavan wiped the blood from his lip on the tip of his sleeve.
“I don’t wanna do this, Kevin. Enough. Take your ass-whippin’ like a man. Get the fuck out!” Donovan snarled. His blood felt as if molten lava flowed through his veins. His anger erupted like a volcano.
Donavan wanted Kevin so he could figure out how to get Kiora back. Tomorrow was her birthday and…
Donovan was so consumed by his thoughts, he’d blocked out his brother’s warning until he was too late. Kevin picked up a large rock and hurled in at Donovan. He felt the impact of the rock against his skull. It made a sickening cracking sound echoing in his sub-conscious. It was last he remembered before darkness engulfed him.
Who are the two men fighting? What are the fighting about?
