Brett shook his head nervously looking around. “I’m sorry, Kris, I can’t explain it. I don’t know what happened. I was waiting for you in our secret spot then your sister came,” he shrugged his shoulders. “It just happened.”

“It just happened? You just happened to kiss my sister? You just happened to break up with me and date my sister? It just happened?”

Brett glanced down the hallway, stiffened his back and changed his tone.

“Ha! Are you begging now? How pathetic. You think I really wanted to be with you? I just wanted to sleep with you. I mean get real, Krista, look at me then look at you.” His laugh cut through her heart.

“Brett?” Mara cooed slinking up beside him to wrap her arm around his waist. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing babe, it’s cool.” He kissed the top of Mara’s head then mouthed the words ‘I’m sorry’ before Krista ran off down the hallway with a bevy of laughter echoing behind her.

“Kris? Krista?” Kim leaned over to tap her friend’s shoulder. “Are you alright, sweetie?”

“Yeah, yeah, sure. I’m sorry I had a brain fart, I guess. Getting old and senile, huh?” Krista giggled.

A wide grin spread across Kim’s face. “No way. You’re the smartest person I know.”

Krista shook her head. “Now we both know that’s not true, Kim but thanks for the vote of confidence.”

Kim leaned over and whispered, “Come on, Kris, I’m always on your side, remember best friends don’t ask where to bury the body, they just bring a shovel.”

Krista leaned back to examine Kim’s face. Did she really say that?

Suddenly, Kim slapped the table and broke out with a joyous laughter that made the other patrons turn to stare in their direction. “You looked at me like I’m crazy, Kris. Oh wow, I got you. You’re crazy. I know you wouldn’t hurt anybody, but sometimes I think everybody thinks about it at least once. Do you, Kris?”

The question caught her off caught. “Do I what?”

“Think about it? You know…killing someone.”

“Oh, my God, no, Kim. Your talking crazy bullshit, right now. I really don’t like this at all.”

 Kim picked up her drink and took a big sip.

Krista relaxed her shoulders. “Kim, I’ve known you a long time and I’ll be honest, you scare the shit outta me sometimes.”

Kim shrugged. “You don’t know what it’s like, Kris. Being second, in the shadow all the time. It gets lonely and sometimes,” she shrugged her shoulders once more. “Sometimes you wonder if someone wasn’t in your way, if your life could be different if they were dead.”

Krista stared at her friend fighting to look of panic on her face. You know what this means, don’t you?

“Well,” Krista rose to her feet and gathered her things. She put down a twenty-dollar bill for Doreen. “Listen,” she leaned down and kissed her cheek. “Don’t worry about all the other people, it’s their loss. You’re a great person. Someone that…means a lot to me. Call me sometime and we’ll hang, okay?”

Kim perked up. “Yes, I will. Cool, thanks Kris.”

“Anytime.” Krista patted Kim on her shoulder as she left the Café.

You know what this means, don’t you? You know what needs to be done, right?

Krista ducked inside her car and drove away.

Listen to me. You’re not listening.

“I am listening.” Krista snapped.

Then you know what needs to happen.

“Yes.”

Tell me.

“Kim has to die.” Krista whispered.

Exactly. See I love this game. There’s so many ways to play but first Brett.

Brett humiliated her, left her for Mara, crimes punishable by death. Unlike the easy idea for Aunt Mary’s car accident, Brett’s demise must be painful. It must eat away at him and make him understand his hateful, selfish ways.

Eat at him. The words rang out again.

Yes, I think I have an idea for you. It’ll hurt more than anyone will ever know. And he will pay.

 Krista turned up the volume on the stereo trying to drown out the laughter in her head. But it was there…it was always there. Tick-tock, Brett. Tick fucking tock.

Oooh I'm feelin a bit.....

RED HOT!!! Snippet from Twisted by Raven Starr.. Racy and HOT HOT HOT.. You have been WARNED..

“Damn it,” she squealed, reeling back ripping out the invader in the meaty part of her hand. Blood gushed down her fingertips coating her digits in a warm crimson blanket.

Krista stared at the broach brooch, tenderly she picked it up to read the inscription. “To Mara, you’re the daughter I never had. All the best wishes, my shining star. Love always, Aunt Mary.”

 Hypnotized by the words, she read them again and again then in a fit of rage she threw the broach brooch against the wall. It broke into pieces. Krista’s breathe became haggard, she strode over to the remains of the jewelry and stared at it in an almost grieving way. Several moments passed before Krista bent to pick up the pieces and tossed them into the trash can.

Back in front of the mirror, Krista looked down at her bloody hand to watch the claret.

Absently blinded by the growing void within her, she wiped two single lines of blood down her face. A sinister grin pulled her face in an odd way. With every pulse of her heart it pumped the gore from her wound.  Liberating, isn’t it?  

Krista noticed a slight tingle caressing the tip of her nub like invisible fingers. She shivered as she slipped her bloody hand into her lacy gray panties to touch herself enjoying the spread of the warm warm sensation filling her. She gyrated her waist against as unembarrassed moans floated through the room as she reached climax. Breathless her eyes locked on her own reflection as she nibbled on her bottom lip.

Krista shook her head then yanked her hand from her underwear and stepped back in horror. “What the hell am I doing?”

Was it good for you?  A loud perverse laughter filled her head. Krista covered her ears. “Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.”

Krista stripped off her panties, turned from the mirror and ran to the bathroom to shower. She watched the red tinted water wash away and swirl down the drain.

Just relax and listen to me.

 “I’m fuckin crazy.” Krista closed her eyes trying to shut off the annoying voice in her head. “Am I losing my mind?”

Maybe your just now coming to terms with exactly who you are. Have you ever considered that?

Krista turned off the shower and went to bed without drying her wet skin. “I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy,” she chanted.

Are you done?

“What?” Krista lifted her head to glance around the room. She was alone. “Oh shit, I am crazy, huh?”

Who said you’re crazy? I never said that, did I?

“Well no, but I figure if I’m hearing voices and talking to myself it kinda qualifies.”

So, what if you are? I think it’s a good thing. Plus, it’s not just some regular voice in your head, it’s your voice, so technically I’m your conscience and you’re not crazy or you can admit you’re a little tapped and we can start the game.

Krista shook her head. “Game? What game?”

The killing game, of course. It’s a fun game and I’ve been waiting to play. Let’s play, okay? You and me. Me and you.

“A game.” Krista whispered. “I like games.”

“I like them too. You wanna play this game?

“Let’s play.”

Good, now turn off the light and go back to sleep. We have so many plans to make.

Krista obeyed the voice by turning off the light then pulled the blanket up on her chest. “What are the rules?”

Who said anything about rules. Go to sleep.

“Okay.”  Krista blinked several times then held up her once shaking hands, even in the darkness of her room she saw how steady her hands were. “Strong hands.”

Steady hands.

Welcome to October!!

Hello loveables, how are you enjoying this change of weather. First off you have or are in the path of Matthew please be careful.
Now quickly I'll give you the run down on what's happening.
The old website is in the process of being rebooted so I'm happy about that very much.
I did submit The Record Shop which is coming out in a great antho with some other horror writers and I'm honored to have one of my stories along with them. All the proceeds to go charity so its a win-win!!
It will be live by the end of the month and when I get more information I will post it, here, there and everywhere, so watch out!!
All a while I have been submitting to contests and such and I'm crossing my fingers about any of those and just yesterday I submitted to an e-house sooo hopefully someone out there will give me some good news.
I am also rewritnig many of my old books to release on my own. I am very busy and soon you will have a Raven Starr book in your heavenly little hands.

Enjoy the start of cooler weather

Omg I finally did it!!! I'm back!! Hi again and I'm sorry I've been away and I won't do it again... promise. I have so much to say. Wow. There are books coming out. The Tapestry is done I'm going through and editing it and it will find a home. I am thinking about re releasing some of my old stuff on my own to see how that works but don't fret like I said new stuff is on the way. I am very active on Facebook so if you don't know.. now ya know get your booties over there and add me. Raven Starr is the name in case you forgot... lol. I do have some feelers out there and submissions out and will get more into that when I know more good or bad, I will let you know. Thanks so much for all the support and love you've shown me through the years and I'm tellin' ya the stuff I'm working on I'm hoping it won't disappoint ya. So check out my author page on Facebook. There are two new snippets posted from my horror short called, Survive the Night, and my historical inspirational called, Broken Soul. I didn't give up on the romance so don't think your girl has gone soft on you, there is a book I'm working on called, Kiss Away the Pain... See I told you I've been busy. I have the YA that needs re tweaking before I start the agent hunt or something. I'm not sure how I'm going to play that one but we'll see. I'm not going to run this time. I'm going to walk and enjoy the scenery, you know? Oh I do have The Record Shop coming out sometime with Asylum 819 but when I find out about the release date I'll post it, now know that it is a complication book, (not just my work) so when ya get that you'll be experiencing a whole slew of new authors so enjoy that. Alright now, I've to go but I'll be back... (you know you read that like the terminator!!)

Happy Easter

Hi my friends. I am here to wish you a Happy Easter. Are you going to spend it alone or with family? I will be here at home with my kids cooking and doing homework. Yep, I'm still in school. I can't wait till its over to be honest. But until then I have to start plugging along. I've decided the agent search will commence soon again. I have something that I want to get out there. Well, my friends take it easy and love your life because you are all blessed. I have a bit of news though, I was asked and happily accepted to host Topaz Publishing's blogtalk radio show on Mondays at 6pn eastern time. Check me out! Happy Spring

Hey everyone it's finally spring time. Its time to come out of our houses and enjoy the nice weather. I'm sorry I haven't written in a while but I have been busy with school. So far I passed my last class but now I have started a new class and I'm reading about some crazy stuff. I have a plan with one of my books and I hope it works. I have been editing and puttering around with something. I am hoping to get any editor/ agent with it. Wish me luck. Merry Christmas

Hello all. What a wonderful Christmas morning it is. The kids are quite playing with their new toys and I am enjoying the peace. I have many projects in the works and I'm waiting for my cover for Twisted. I can't wait to see it. I had a dark time writing this book. It is really fun. I have some time off of school so I'll be writing more in the next few days, which is a relief. So what are your plans today? Did you get snow? All the snow here is gone but its still cold out. Alright I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I am thankful to those who read my this. Thank you for your support and I hope to be bringing you more stories in 2014.

On other news there is an awesome ad in Dark Discoveries that has Vampire Embrace’s cover in it. It’s about women in horror. Speaking of horror I am writing a new creepy story, the title I have right now is called “Bug”. I won’t say anymore because this book is still in the beginning stages. I’m also writing a romance book called Tapestry. I’m having a good time editing and writing this story. This story is all about the power of our minds and everlasting love. It is not finished yet so I haven’t settled on a publishing house.

I don’t know if I told you but I’m going back to school to get my bachelor degree in English. I am hoping to hon my craft this way. It is why I haven’t put out many books, but don’t fret I’m still writing. Thank you for your support. I love you all for hanging in there and enjoying what I put out. As for getting an agent I will always be on the look out. I think getting an agent is the next time in my writing career. I have about another year of school then I’m done and will be back to writing full-time. Yay!
